The Ashtanga Yoga Method


At Yoga East we offer over 20 classes per week making daily practice accessible.  The classes are divided between led Ashtanga Classes and Mysore Style Classes.   Both classrooms offer a supportive environment for learning and developing a practice.  We recommend that a student commits to using both teaching styles in order to fully embrace the correct method of Ashtanga Yoga.

“ 99% Practice, 1% Theory!”Guruji.  The Ashtanga Yoga method prescribes that a student takes practice 6 days per week.  It is better to do a little everyday than a lot one time per week.  “Your body and your mind will begin to resist the yoga if you do not build it steadily over many years of practice.”Nancy Gilgoff.

Suggested Guidelines
Please do not eat for at least 2 hours prior to class, wear comfortable clothing, only consume water prior and post class, please refrain from wearing heavy scents, and women should not practice for at least the first 3 days of menstruation.
