The heart of Ashtanga Yoga is based in Mysore Style Practice.
Mysore
is a city in India where the teachings of Ashtanga Yoga originated and are
still taught today by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. This one-on-one approach,
within a group setting is the most effective method for students to
practice. Mysore is the perfect place for Beginners and all levels of
students to develop their practice. It is the original method of teaching
so that each student may develop at their own pace in accordance to their
life.
One third of the classes offered at Yoga East are based on this method,
and only 10% of the students practicing at the studio access this style of
class. Why?
We can only assume that there is a lack of education within the community,
confusion around requirements to attend this style of class and what it
means to develop your own practice outside of the spoken instruction of a
teacher.
