Sharon McGauley has been practicing yoga for 11 years. She has been dedicated to Ashtanga since 2007 when she began studying with Nancy Gilgoff in Maui and she has been grateful for it’s grounding, nurturing and calming effects ever since. Sharon knew when she took her first class in Nancy’s studio that she eventually wanted to teach and has practiced with that in mind. She is very grateful to Nancy and her assistant, Casie Newhouse, whom she is lucky enough to continue to study with on extended trips to Maui, and also to David Garrigues, who she did a teacher training with in Seattle. Sharon teaches in the traditional, hands-on style that Nancy and David inherited from their close connection with Pattabhi Jois. Sharon is also a painter and the grounding and meditative aspects of this practice have helped her to be more clear and focused in her work as an artist. She has found this practice to be a constant source of inspiration, stability, and clarity and is happy to be a part of the Yoga East Community.
