About Yoga East
Located in Kittery, Maine, Yoga East was founded in 2001 and is one of the most well established Ashtanga yoga shalas in the northeast. At Yoga East we teach Ashtanga vinyasa yoga in the tradition of Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India as well as supporting practices to explore the endless and profound path of yoga.
Kimberly Dahlmann is the owner and director of Yoga East and has been teaching on the Seacoast since 1999. Kimberly is dedicated to preserving the tradition of yoga through her deep respect for the Ashtanga vinyasa lineage. She continues to cultivate Yoga East as a place for learning and practicing the healing art of yoga through the development of a harmonious relationship with her students. She believes that with dedication, compassion and curiosity all students can find a practice that works for them regardless of any limitations and/or imbalances. Yoga makes the impossible, possible.
At Yoga East it is one of our highest goals to promote consciousness in individuals around our local and global community. We encourage such contemplation through our commitment to sadhana (spiritual practice), support of our sangha (community) and connection to seva (serving the divinity in everyone and everything).
In a time when we can feel hopeless and frustrated, seva creates a light in the darkness. It is an important practice to cultivate an attitude of compassion and kindness towards ourselves as well as others regardless of our differences. It is through practice, self-study, and compassionate observation that we work with our own hearts and minds to grow and share our yoga practice so that it stretches into our day to day life and penetrates those around us and the world we live in.
As yogis it is our practice to observe the polarities in ourselves and around us. Now, more than ever our resources need to be spread among us. Peace is our willingness to accommodate and share this path with all of humanity.
