Kimberly Dahlmann, 500 E-RYT

Gifted, wise, caring, and compassionate are some of Kimberly Dahlmann’s special qualities. She skillfully guides me on the journey of learning and adopting a daily yoga practice, both on and off my mat, that I envision continuing for the rest of my life. Her intuitive, insightful knowledge of each student is amazing, as she guides each of us in the direction, both physically and spiritually, that best suits us. People ask why I travel to Kittery almost every weekday to practice at Yoga East, the reason is Kimberly and the Yoga East community she fosters.

Kimberly has been a student of Meditation and Yoga since 1994.  In 1999 Kimberly met Nancy Gilgoff and began dedicated practice in the Ashtanga Yoga system. She began studying under the guidance of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2000, making annual trips to receive his teachings, both in the United States and traveling twice to Mysore India. Kimberly completed primary, second and the Advanced A & B series under the guidance of Nancy.  In addition to receiving traditional practice in Ashtanga Kimberly has studied extensively with many gifted teachers, including Donna Farhi, Eddie Modestini, Nicki Doane and Bhavani Maki.  She has spent the last 5 years studying in the Iyengar tradition with Kofi Busia where she has discovered a deeper understanding of the healing potential of Yoga.  Kimberly's meditation practice is guided by the Aghor tradition and her relationship to Baba Harihar Ramaji of the Sonoma Ashram.

Kimberly brings compassion, integrity, sensitivity and a deep commitment to her students and the community of Yoga East.   She has a gift in working with students individually to help foster a greater level of understanding of the healing potential through the practice of yoga.  As a teacher, her humility allows students to develop their practice with a level of confidence, self reliance and inner joy.  In the classroom, she intuitively guides the body with strong hands on adjustments, penetrates both the interior and exterior alignment of the body through clear communication, and individualizes the practice to meet each student where they are.  As the founder and director of Yoga East she is committed to offering a gentle and compassionate space within community and preserving the tradition of Yoga that has been shared with her.

Yoga of Maine Podcast with Kimberly

Having grown “yoga-up” with Kimberly, (18 + years) the thing that stands out is her innate ability to make every person in the room feel like they are the only one. Kimberly is an exceptionally kind, highly skilled, rational, practical and very down-to-earth teacher of Yoga. She is always extraordinarily aware of every person’s individual needs. Following every Kimberly practice, without exception, I walk away with a “heartfelt-happy-home-again-sigh”... she makes me feel so accomplished.

Kimberly’s immense experience and mastery of her craft are immediately evident in the ease with which she communicates insight with compassion, humility and integrity. Her teaching never fails to challenge my body, open my heart and inspire my spirit. Her deeply penetrating exacting alignment cues, hands on adjustments, thoughtfully themed classes, attentive presence, and most of all, her way of living what she teaches have helped me to refine my practice and teaching tremendously. Kimberly always succeeds at orienting her students to the magic of the practice. She is a true teacher.
