Laura Brogan

Laura’s Sutra practices are wonderful. Her warmth and enthusiasm bring each one to life. Her comfort with the language and meaning shine new light on the practice of yoga. My yoga practice is deeper and richer thanks to studying the sutras with her each week.

Laura began the practice of Yoga as a student at Boston University in 1996. In 1999, she met Kimberly Dahlmann and began the journey into the Ashtanga lineage. She continues to practice under Kimberly’s loving teaching at Yoga East today.

Laura is also deeply grateful for the teachings of Sri. K Pattabhi Jois, Nancy Gilgoff, Kofi Busia, Nickie Doane and Eddie Modestini. It is a profound gift to practice with the Yoga East community, and all of our teachers.

Laura especially enjoys chanting and studying the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which were shared with her in oral tradition by Karen Rafferty. The resonance of the Sanskrit breathes life into this ancient text and connects us to the timeless lineage of Yoga. It is her deepest honor to share the study of the Sutras with others. She is grateful to Bhavani Maki and BKS Iyengar for their illuminating texts on the Sutras.

The path of parenthood is Laura’s primary practice these days. Laura has guest taught at Studio 72, the Breathing Room, GLOW, Blue Tree Reiki (ME), and Cohasset Yoga (MA). She is also a four season surfer in Maine. Namaste!
