Hatha Yoga & Philosophy Intensive

"The Nadi - Subtle Energy Channels"

Classically, Hatha Yoga clears the Nadi, or conduits of prana, as channels for the awakening of consciousness and the development of spiritual power. We will integrate the yogik practices of asana, pranayama, the Patanjali Yoga Sutra, psychology, neuroscience and the development of emotional intelligence to further enhance our exploration and experience of Yoga as the science and art of Self Realization. Come share in the joy of learning, in an exploration of the Nadi, or subtle body energy channels, that open us to the spiritual life.

Friday Evening Session - The Patanjali Yoga Sutra: The Yogi's Roadmap

The Yoga Sutra are considered to be the definitive text for Yoga and a map of the Yogic experience, revealing the deeper underlying nature of our being, and the challenges of being a spiritual being in a human experience. Yoga as a path of Tantra is our ability to use the human experience to awaken to a spiritualized life. Those of us who are drawn to yoga tend to be highly empathic and often suffer from compassion exhaustion. We will explore these issues in relationship to the Yoga Sutra along with pranayama techniques to reset the nervous system from Sympathetic (fight or flight) to Parasympathetic (rest and digest).

Saturday, Morning Session - Drdah Bhumih: Firmly Grounded Standing & Balancing Postures

Patanjali encourages Yoga aspirants to develop a practice that is steadfast, firmly grounded, and how we transition in and out of postures asa window into how we live our lives. We will investigate standing and balancing postures as a means to systematically stabilize our connection to the Earth with the intent of accessing greater freedom within the self. Diagnostic as well as curative, these postures are the vehicle for developing a sustainable practice that has the qualities of integrity of alignment and form.

Saturday, Afternoon Session - Patanjali Yoga Sutra II: Neuro-patterning

With a sharp and clear understanding of what spins in our minds, we can get off the roller coaster of the "monkey mind" and begin to unravel ourselves from unconscious conditioning. Modern science reaffirms Patanjali's teachings, and provides us with a modern map to understand the electrical impulses and where they arise in the nervous system through neuroscience.

Sunday Morning Session - Amrita, the Nectar of the Gods: Hip Openers, Balancing and Inversions

Accessing the still point within balance and flux, explore the foundation of steadiness, ease and being true to our own gravitational center from the ground up.
